ACCEPTED WASTE TYPES

To get the best possible price and have the smallest environmental impact, it is important for you to select the correct waste classification when you book your skip. Below is a handy guide to help you work out which classification is right for you.

If you can’t find a classification that suits your needs, you might need to book multiple skips with different classifications. To make things easy, you can click on the help icon when getting an instant online quote to see what you can and can’t put in each type of skip.

GENERAL WASTE

For all general household or light commercial waste. A weight limit applies. If your bin exceeds 150kg per cubic meter, suppliers will charge you an additional tipping fee.

This waste type is only used for lightweight:

– Household cleanup & garage junk
– Office & commercial cleanup
– Dry garden waste
– Furniture items

You cannot place in this bin:

– Mixed heavy waste of any kind
– Soil or turf
– Large tree stumps
– Food products or food waste
– Asbestos or any hazardous material

BRICK & CONCRETE ONLY

For brick, stones and concrete from your demolition or construction works. If you are going to mix it with other waste types, use mixed heavy. There is no weight limit on this waste type.

This waste type is only used for:

– Bricks
– Concrete
– Tiles
– Stones

You cannot place in this bin:

– Soil, dirt, clay or sand
– General waste or garden waste
– Food products or food waste
– Asbestos or any hazardous material
– Any other waste type

GREEN WASTE

For all your biodegradable garden waste. A weight limit applies, If your bin exceeds 150kg per cubic meter, suppliers will charge you an additional tipping fee.

This waste type is only used for:

– Small trunks and branches (smaller than 150mm by 150mm)
– Plant clippings
– Lawn or grass clippings
– Shrubs, twigs, plants, wood chips & bark

You cannot place in this bin:

– Mixed heavy waste of any kind
– Soil
– Large tree stumps
– Food products or food waste
– Asbestos or any hazardous material

SOIL & DIRT ONLY

For excavated soil & dirt only. There is no weight limit on this waste type.

This waste type is only used for:

– 100% soil & dirt

You cannot place in this bin:

– Mixed heavy waste
– General waste
– Garden waste
– Food products or food waste
– Asbestos or any hazardous material
– Any other waste type

MIXED WASTE WITH SOIL

For mixed waste from domestic or commercial demolition, construction, renovation e.g. Soil, timber, plastic, gyprock, minimal glass etc (excluding fibro). There is no weight limit on this waste type.

This waste type is only used for:

– Less than 80% soil / dirt / clay / sand
– Treated timber e.g. retaining walls, decking and floorboards, etc
– Hardfill Waste – e.g. bricks, tiles concrete (pieces no larger than 600mm by 600mm)
– Household waste – e.g. clothes, toys, paper, kitchenware etc
– Furniture and appliances e.g. cupboards, lounges, white goods, etc
– Garden waste e.g. shrubs, grass clippings, twigs, bark, pebbles/rocks etc
– Tree trunks smaller than 400mm by 500mm (excluding palm trees)
– Metal & steel

You cannot place in this bin:

– Tree trunks larger than 400mm by 500mm
– Palm tree trunks and synthetic grass
– Hazardous materials – e.g. asbestos, insulation, liquids, empty chemical containers, food, wet paint tins, putrescibles, etc
– Carpet, underlay, vinyl, fibro, synthetic grass
– Computer monitors or TVs
– Truck or car tyres

CLEAN WASTE

For certain types of sorted, clean waste suitable for recycling. You can only place one type of waste in this bin (eg if you include bricks, you cannot include tiles).

This waste type is only used for:

– Bricks (or)
– Bricks & mortar (or)
– Concrete pieces no larger than 600mm x 600mm (or)
– Pebbles and rocks (or)
– Roof tiles (or)
– Floor tiles

You cannot place in this bin:

– Mixed materials of any type
– Any material other than those specified

MIXED HEAVY WASTE

For all heavy waste from different waste types. Most of your renovation works, refurbishments, heavy cleanup items, commercial or domestic demolition works and construction works. If soil is mixed in, select Mixed Waste With Soil. There is no weight limit on this waste type.

This waste type is only used for:

– Treated timber e.g. retaining walls, decking and floorboards, etc
– Hardfill Waste – e.g. bricks, tiles concrete (pieces no larger than 600mm by 600mm)
– Household waste – e.g. clothes, toys, paper, kitchenware etc
– Furniture and appliances e.g. cupboards, lounges, white goods, etc
– Garden waste e.g. shrubs, grass clippings, twigs, bark, pebbles/rocks etc
– Tree trunks smaller than 400mm by 500mm (excluding palm trees)
– Metal & steel

You cannot place in this bin:

– Soil, dirt, clay or sand
– Tree trunks larger than 400mm by 500mm 
– Palm tree trunks
– Hazardous materials – e.g. asbestos, insulation, liquids, empty chemical containers, food, wet paint tins, putrescibles, etc
– Carpet, underlay, vinyl, fibro, synthetic grass
– Computer monitors or TVs
– Truck or car tyres

ASBESTOS WASTE

For asbestos only. Please take care when moving asbestos and be sure to follow the instructions of the supplier. A weight limit applies, If your bin exceeds 150kg per cubic meter, suppliers will charge you an additional tipping fee.

All skip bins hired for asbestos removal must be lined with double PVC orange or black builder’s plastic that can be purchased from any hardware store (200 micron or greater). The bin is to be lined with enough over hang to completely enclose the asbestos within the confines of the plastic & then sealed with industry tape for safe transport to an asbestos approved waste facility. The skip bin suppliers will always check to see if this has been done correctly before transport.

This waste type is only used for:

– Asbestos materials i.e. fibro sheeting
– Asbestos contaminated waste

You cannot place in this bin:

– Any other waste, rubbish, or materials
