WHAT SKIP BIN SIZE SHOULD I SELECT?
Get a skip that’s too big, and you’re wasting money. Choose a skip that’s too small and you’ll find yourself having to order a second bin. Here are a few hints for estimating the right size skip for your needs.
Start by making sure that all materials or items going into the skip are suitable for the waste type you are selecting. Find out more about waste types here. Then, estimate (in cubic metres) the size of skip bin you will need for the materials you are disposing of. Where possible, place all items to be removed in one place close to where the skip would be positioned. This will make it visually easier for you to size up your waste and choose the right size skip required. To make things easier, each bin size can be compared to the size of a box trailer or wheelie bin.
Here’s a table to help you work it out. For example a 4 square metre skip bin is the equivalent of 4 standard box trailers, or 16 wheelie bins.
