CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Contributing to the circular economy through resource recovery

WHERE DOES THE WASTE GO?

We care about the environment, so we only work with reputable skip operators. After the waste is picked up, it is sent to sorting facilities which will do their best to recover any usable resources. After that, the recovered resources are recycled and the remaining material is sent to the most appropriate waste facility. Our suppliers try to minimise the amount that goes to landfill.

WHAT ABOUT HAZARDOUS WASTE?

Hazardous waste such as asbestos can not be mixed with other types of waste. All skip bins hired for asbestos removal must be lined with double PVC orange or black builder’s plastic that can be purchased from any hardware store (200 micron or greater). The bin is to be lined with enough over hang to completely enclose the asbestos within the confines of the plastic & then sealed with industry tape for safe transport to an asbestos approved waste facility. The skip bin suppliers will always check to see if this has been done correctly before transport.

Once asbestos has been collected, it is carefully taken to a specialised facility to safely dispose of the material.

WHAT MORE CAN BE DONE?

To be honest, a lot! We are always working with our suppliers to improve resource recovery rates and contribute more to the circular economy. Reduce, re-use, recycle is our mantra and we consider ourselves at the forefront of moving away from the current ‘throw away’ culture. As a society and as businesses and individuals, we can move in the direction by following three principles:

  • Design out waste and pollution
  • Keep products and materials in use
  • Regenerate natural systems
